WHY QUALITEX SOLUTIONS USE & RECOMMEND QUICKBOOKS

The following is a transcript of a conversation between Natalie Verhoek (Web Designer)
and Jeff Maltby (QuickBooks Trainer) in Brisbane.

NATALIE:- It’s been very interesting going through the range of Quicken products on offer. How did you get involved with these products? 

JEFF:- About the end of 1999 just before the introduction of the Goods & Services Tax in Australia I was working with some very strong and flexible database accounting products. These systems were just great. The GST rendered the systems to be dinosaurs. The writers could not match the Tax Office’s requirements for GST and the software companies went to the wall. 

NATALIE:- Where did that leave you? 

JEFF:- Basically without a business and no software to sell and set up and train clients to use. A sad day.  There was only one thing to do - find a new product real fast!

NATALIE:- And this led you to QuickBooks?

JEFF:- Well not directly, but yes after looking at many contenders and realising that they were just not going to fit my business and were just too complicated to use.

NATALIE:- What about MYOB?

JEFF:- I decided to have a serious look at the leading software of the day – MYOB. I though if so many people were using that product it must be good. However as I worked over a copy I bought for myself I soon discovered just how inflexible this product was when compared to the old database products that were now becoming fossil fuel out at the local tip. 

NATALIE:- So how did you get onto QuickBooks?

JEFF:- From advertising material sent to me in the mail telling of an “Accountants” bag full of software. I paid my $200 (I think it was) and I could not believe the gear that these folks sent to me. That was version 5. 

NATALIE:- How did you rate those earlier versions of QuickBooks? 

JEFF:- I have to confess that what I saw on screen quite stunned me. I never thought I would be lucky enough to see the flexibility that I had in the old database systems. I think for the first time I was game enough to say out loud – “This software is user friendly”. as this is one of the most over-used phrases of our recent history and definitely one of the most untruthful when applied to the majority of computer software. But it truly did apply to QuickBooks and does to the entire range of products. 

NATALIE:- Has this view been reflected by other users with whom you came in contact? 

JEFF:- Most definitely yes. Let me list a couple of instances as examples:

1. When I did my training with QuickBooks there were some ladies in the course from the Mildura area. These girls were big users of MYOB. At the end of the course I asked them which product they preferred. All said emphatically QuickBooks. It was just so much easier and friendlier to use over MYOB.
    

2. My own tax accountant would never hear of anything other than Solution 6 (Used in tax accountant’s offices) and he recommended MYOB. After a half hour demonstration from me as to just how easy it was to render his accounts to his clients just the way he wanted the job done - well - he had me setting up his invoices and had ordered his own accountants version of QuickBooks. 

NATALIE:- Now that’s impressive. 

JEFF:- Yep! Now when hardened users of MYOB and my accountant (whom I had been trying to convince of the value of the software I used and sold) came over to my point of view I knew I had the right gear to do the accounting job in hand. And those stories have been repeated over and over again.

Let me tell you there is no product out there in computer land which allows you to enter your invoices, cheques, bills etc  so fast and with such ease. I have searched and even tried to design my own systems but nothing holds a candle to the Quicken range and especially QuickBooks sheer ease of use and SPEED.
